The
HREC is proud to present the new and improved Leonberger Comprehensive Breed Health
Survey. The survey, conducted every five years, takes a snapshot of the state
of the health of our breed. From the data gathered, the HREC makes recommendations
to the Leonberger Health
Foundation (LHF) on areas in which to concentrate research dollars.
The
2005 Health Survey can be taken
on-line or by downloading a paper copy (coming soon) and submitting
by mail. We strongly recommend taking the on-line version; it is so user friendly.
Useful things to have on hand before taking the survey are 1) a pedigree 2) vaccination
records and 3) pertinent health history papers. This will speed up the time required
to answer the questions. The
2005 Health Survey will also serve as the starting point for the on-line version
of the Leonberger
Open Health Registry (LOHR). Survey respondents will need to indicate
whether or not they would like to release certain health data to the LOHR. In
order to be an effective research tool for breeders and puppy buyers, there needs
to be a large number of dogs entered - young, old, healthy or with health conditions,
alive or deceased. Please, indicate "yes" on the survey form; you will
be performing a beneficial service for the breed. Thank
you for your participation. |
