Allergies

Allergies and sensitivities continue to be prevalent in Leonbergers and most of them manifest themselves as chronic skin and ear problems. Some of these may be food sensitivities, which can very successfully be treated by specific dietary changes. Studies in other breeds suggest that there may be a hereditary element. This should be considered when making breeding decisions.
