Cancer

Cancer, as expected, is the number one killer of our Leonbergers. As the population of our Leos ages, it is reasonable to expect an increased number of deaths from cancer. The most prevalent types are bone cancer (half of all cancer deaths) and hemangiosarcoma, but a number of other cancers are also represented. The HREC is currently monitoring the prevalence of the different types of cancer, the age of onset, and any indications of familial tendencies. To track this, we need your help in reporting cancer with a definitive diagnosis.
